On the Side

Writings

I love writing, though I admit I'm not that good. But I hope somehow you can enjoy the random ramblings from the inner workings of my mind. (Some of these are academic papers, but I didn't feel like filing them under another whole catergory.)

Zero the Cow

It's true: I grew up on an acreage. So, yes, we had many animals. And what child doesn't enjoy the stories most when the animals have personalities and can talk?! So, for one of the books I wrote, I gave them just that. Sadly, the illustrations were added into the book via photocopier after the book was printed, so they are not shown here.

Bob the Bum

I don't remember writing this, but I'm it was either a short descriptive assignment I was to write or just something I wrote for fun on the side. At any rate, it made me laugh as I was scrolling thorugh old documents. (Disclaimer: At the time, I had no idea what snogging was, and I didn't realize Lea was a female name, I thought it was a guys name, like Lee ... I was not a messed up little child, I swear!)

The Hamster is In

I had a slight obsession with hamsters when I was younger. This is the first of three installments, the but other two have been lost, unfortunately. As a bit of background, Binkie was my first hamster, and I loved him so that, in my mind, he was a superhero.

Animal I.

Again, talking animals. Significantly longer than Zero the Cow, and again, sadly, the hideous illstrations are not included unless you stop by my house and give me lots of money. The book is also all-too-obviously written shortly after I read The Chronicles of Narnia; oy vey!

I rewrote the story of the Tell Tale Heat from the perspective of the policeman who arrived at the house.

Max

He's dominant. Had you ever met him, you too would realize this. There's no other like him, that's to be sure.

My Barn

A descriptive paper I wrote for American Lit in 2004. I was supposed to write a paper describing a certain setting that the reader could come upon, so I decided to describe my barn as you would come upon it in the middle of a terrible storm.

Alex Gets a Wife

This story wasn't authored by me as you will find as soon as you open it; Jenna wrote this one. But it was funny enough that I wanted to include it on this page. A story of how I managed to get a wife (through the graces of Jenna and Joey) before I turned 20!

A Tribute to Grandparents

I had to write a tribute assignment about where I saw myself in many years, and who I would attribute that vision to. Of course, I'm going to be a famous Noblel Prize winner someday, through the generosity of my Grandparents and their large cash contributions.

Death of a Bird

As I walked back from my last class one fine day at Cedarville University, I saw a bird shoved so inhumanely into the grill of a car that I just had to do something! I wrote up this note and left it on the windshield.
